Originally from Zimbabwe, Nelson Choga describes himself as a pattern cutter and designer. Currently based in London, he recently graduated from the London College of Fashion with a BA in Fashion Pattern Cutting. His design aesthetic is influenced by his own multicultural story as a Zimbabwean who has lived in five countries and other people's stories. It is his vision to make garments physical expressions of contemporary times through vibrant colours, shapes, and details. In his graduation collection, he explored themes related to identity and integration. He illustrated the journey by building a bridge between African sculpture and cubism.
'By doing so, I am reclaiming my identity as an African man while embracing my new identity as an immigrant and a Londoner. In the process of integration.'
Nelson is a British Fashion Council scholar and a Net-A-Porter Vanguard finalist.
